“If you are looking for Dr. Max Pierson,” Chris continued as we swiftly drove through the hills on the winding road, “Then you must know something about Project Omega.” I shook my head ‘no.’ “Or Serum ‘A’?” Chris asked looking in my direction. My eyes widened, but I did not respond. “Serum ‘A’ you are familiar with,” Chris continued turning his attention back to the road. “We can get into how you know about the serum at another time. Project Omega was in response to Serum A. I was given the assignment to work on a protein delivery system. Dr. Pierson came to me to try and get an odd substance to combine with a protein. The only information disseminated in my direction pertained to a potential chemical bringing the dead back to life. There was not much information on chemical, and it was only referred to as Serum A. Still, to this day, I have no idea what it is or even what I was working on to defend against it. Once I was able to combine the odd substance with several proteins successfully, they wrapped up my work in a box marked: Project Omega. I never heard any more on the project, but my involvement gave me the opportunity to come to the island.

“After the release of the dead in San Francisco, Dr. Pierson came to my home in a panic. He was rambling about ‘them’ coming after everyone involved with Project Omega. I tried to calm him down and get some clarity on the ordeal. He was in such a chaotic state but reassured they were not coming for me. To this day, I still do not know who ‘they’ are or if they are still out there. I hope ‘they’ have been turned into one of the dead snappers. I digress, Project Omega and Serum ‘A’ are still a mystery to me on the whole, but I know Dr. Pierson has the answers.”

Chris took a deep breath and a long pause. He was staring out into the distance, fighting the internal turmoil. “I know where you can get the answers you are looking for, and they are not from Dr. Pierson directly. During his manic state, he had me take him to the cruise ship ports. There was a massive amount of security fencing and boarding up the ports when we arrived. There were a half-dozen checkpoints we had to pass to get to the boat to take Pierson to the island. At each of the checkpoints, security guards scoured the car. The only thing Dr. Pierson held close to him was his laptop. He fought each checkpoint when they wanted to access his laptop, and he had enough authority over the guards to let him pass without a search. Whatever is on his laptop holds the key to the programs. If you can get access to his computer, you will get the answers.”

“Where do I look? Where is his home?” I asked as Chris took a left turn down the road parallel to the airport.
